WrestleMania feels close. Omaha gave Charlotte Flair a submission victory that matters; Nashville gave Oba Femi a final image worthy of a main event challenger. The week had a clear destination. It also leaned heavily on interrupted matches and questions it is asking Atlanta to answer.
1. SmackDown — 7.5/10
The Lucha Brothers won the contenders’ match against Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens by DQ. That advances the tag division, but another disputed finish does less for a team than beating strong opponents decisively. Cody Rhodes beating Mr. Iguana served his demand for a bigger WrestleMania challenge; Skeletor withholding the opponent’s name gives that demand a hook. The hook still needs a payoff.
Charlotte submitting Rhea in the Omaha Street Fight was the most useful result of the show. It gives their I Quit Match a direct question: can Rhea change the outcome when surrender is the entire point? Orton standing over Trick added balance to their rivalry, while Black attacking Howdy made the Casket Match feel personal. Jericho and Styles’ partnership was a welcome new direction, though Jericho’s results make it a direction that needs substance quickly.
2. RAW — 8/10
The reveal that Seth attacked Punk connected two major WrestleMania stories without removing Punk from the card. Drew’s final verbal word worked because it put Roman’s priorities under scrutiny. The risk is overloading Seth’s influence: Oba’s title challenge still deserves room to be the champion’s biggest problem.
MJF and Finn ending in a Breakker-caused DQ made the Triple Threat more combustible, but it denied Nashville a decisive championship finish. Paige beating Asuka and Brock beating Royce Keys supplied the clean results the card needed. Paige’s private conversation with Jacob created curiosity without swallowing her win; Brock’s victory gave the Fatal 4-Way a clear point of comparison.
The Hardys abandoning the friendly tone improved the tag title story. Then Oba dropped Seth to close the show. That was the right final image: the challenger looked dangerous without pretending he had already won the championship.
3. The weekly verdict — 7.5/10
Best development: Charlotte’s submission win, because it changes the argument before the rematch. Best closing image: Oba standing over Seth. Biggest concern: two DQ finishes across these shows leave WrestleMania carrying a lot of responsibility to deliver resolutions. Strong stakes made this a good week. Clear finishes in Atlanta could make the build look even better in hindsight.
